Niagara Police continue to crackdown on shoplifting thefts with its latest operation targeting St. Catharines stores.
The initiative is called 3P, Past the Point of Purchase, in which suspected shoplifters are stopped past the point of purchase by officers.
Over the last month alone, 20 people have been arrested, and 11 criminal charges have been laid.
Police say many of the suspects are linked to other cases of shoplifting, including two people from Alberta, who had been linked to similar thefts of toys across multiple jurisdictions.
Police say the toys were intended for resale and not personal use.
