The Port Colborne Urgent Care Centre is closing earlier than expected this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Niagara Health says the temporary change to the hours will take place on Sunday, Oct. 12th.

The UCC will close early at 4 p.m., reopening on Monday, Oct. 13th at 10 a.m. and then resuming regular hours.

Niagara Health officials say the change is due to ongoing challenges finding enough physicians to cover all shifts.

Officials say despite strong efforts, including outreach to local doctors and offering extra incentives, not every shift can be filled.

“These struggles are ongoing, and we encourage residents to check our website before visiting a UCC to confirm hours of operation.”

Emergency Departments in Welland, Niagara Falls and St. Catharines remain open 24/7.

The Fort Erie UCC will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
