More GO Trains will be heading in and out of Niagara.

The Ontario government announcing that as of November 1st, weekend service will increase on the Lakeshore West line to Niagara Falls.

Existing trips between Union Station and Niagara Falls GO Station will be adjusted, adding two new trips between Union Station and Niagara Falls GO Station on weekends.

That means there will be eight trips, four trains each day, serving Niagara Falls GO Station on both Saturday and Sunday.

Niagara Falls weekend service will no longer be different on Saturday and Sunday and will operate the same service level all weekend.

Starting Monday, October 27, all existing Lakeshore West trips serving Niagara Falls on weekdays and weekends will now stop at Confederation GO Station in Stoney Creek.

That includes an expansion of seven select trips to and from West Harbour GO Station on weekdays and weekends to serve Confederation GO Station.

The Confederation Go Station is part of the Niagara Extension Project, which will expand service for current and proposed stations in Grimsby, Lincoln, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.

“This expansion of rail service on the Lakeshore West Line not only improves ridership options for commuters in Niagara, but provides more travel opportunities for visitors to our region,” said Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West.

“The opening of the Confederation GO Station in Stoney Creek – just ten minutes away from the Casablanca Boulevard Interchange at the QEW in Grimsby – will connect people to jobs, housing and opportunities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe.”
