A meeting will take place Thursday in St. Catharines to go over an appeal to repair or tear down buildings on the former GM site.

The Property Standards Committee will meet in Council Chambers at 5 o’clock to hear from the property owners.

They are appealing an order from the city to repair, or demolish the crumbling buildings, on the vast Ontario Street site.

You can attend the meeting in person, or watch the city’s livestream.

The property has sat vacant and idle for 16 years, having ceased all manufacturing operations in 2010.

Community groups, such as the Coalition For A Better St. Catharines, are calling for action on the property saying they are worried about the stability of the structures, chemicals in the soil, and a lack of security.
