A Brock University professor says the recent actions of US President Donald Trump should be concerning Canadians.
The comments from Stefan Dolgert come as a recent poll shows nearly one-third of Canadians think the United States might attempt to take control of Canada.
Dolgert says unfortunately he believes Trumps actions are a sign of something bigger and much more worrying.
He says adds the actions of the US President Trump are unlike those that previous governments took in the early 20th century.
Dolgert says we should be assuming that Trump will likely intervene in any kind of separatist movement in Alberta and should that fail, he could claim any referendum was not a fair election.
More than half the Canadians polled also said they think the U.S. could attempt to take control of Greenland and Cuba, and almost half said they think it is possible in Colombia and Panama.
