CUPE Local 1287 is giving back to the community through donations to The Hope Centre in Welland.
Members put together a total of 800 pounds of food donations, along with money for the organization as apart of their Strong Public Services – Strong Community campaign.
The donation comes at a time when food bank usage in Niagara has reached an all-time high.
Workers at the Hope Centre are members of CUPE 1287, with the donation made on their behalf and other union members, including workers at the Canadian Mental Health Association, Town of Lincoln, Town of Pelham, City of Port Colborne, Township of Wainfleet, Township of West Lincoln, Humane Society of Greater Niagara, John Howard Society of Niagara, Niagara SPCA and Humane Society, Port Colborne Public Library, Regional Municipality of Niagara, and St. Catharines Museum.
