The District School Board of Niagara has approved its budget for next year.
Last night, trustees approved a balanced 2026-2027 budget of $677M, which marks an increase of $10M from the previous year.
The board says enrolment remains steady, at 43,500 students.
“The balanced budget reflects DSBN’s continued commitment to providing meaningful learning connected to students’ interests and future goals”, said Stacy Veld, Associate Director of Education, Corporate Services and Treasurer.
“From expanding Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) hospitality programs in our secondary schools to investing more than $2 million in information technology infrastructure, we are strengthening the learning experience in our schools.”
The budget includes $124 million for renovations, major system upgrades and the construction of three new elementary schools opening in September of 2027.
Meantime, the Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) approved a $356 million budget earlier this month.
It also includes a $10 million increase from the previous year with 23,600 students across the region.
