Fire in downtown St. Catharines reported officially extinguished by fire services
12/07/2025 at 07:42 AMAfter nearly 18 hours, a structure fire at 17 Queen Street has been extinguished by St. Catharines firefighters.
The fire broke out just before 11 p.m. Friday evening at the old Standard building in downtown.
St. Catharines Fire Chief Dave Upper says over 24 fire service members worked endlessly to keep the fire at bay.
Although the fire is out, Queen Street remains closed from St. Paul to King Street.
Due to the unsafe conditions, it was decided that there will not be an investigation into the cause of the fire, and it will be classified as undetermined.
No injuries have been reported.
