It has been two days since a train derailment in St. Catharines, and the clean up continues.

Canadian National Railway says 13 train cars derailed Monday morning just east of Glendale Ave. near Keele Street.

No one was hurt, no roadways are blocked, and a non-dangerous chemical spilled from one of the cars.

CN says its crews have worked over the last two days to partially resume operations.

They say cleanup activities are ongoing as well as some repair work on the south track.

A estimated timeline on the cleanup was not provided.

“CN would like to apologize for any inconveniences as a result of this incident as well as to thank local first responders who attended. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.”

GO Trains have not been able to stop in St. Catharines or Niagara Falls since the crash.

Metrolinx says Lakeshore West trains are unable to service the Region because of the derailment.

They say customers heading to Toronto can take the 12 GO bus service from Niagara Falls Bus Terminal, stopping at St. Catharines Fairview Mall before arriving at Burlington GO, where you can connect to eastbound GO train service.

For riders heading into Niagara, they can take the regular route 12 GO bus service from Burlington GO, stopping at St. Catharines Fairview Mall before arriving at Niagara Falls Bus Terminal.

Meantime, vessel traffic is continuing through the Welland Canal system, though officials say some minimal delays are expected as movements are managed through a single side of the locks.

The investigation into the derailment’s cause continues.
