There will be no GO Train service to Niagara until the train derailment is cleared in St. Catharines.
Canadian National Railway says 13 train cars derailed just east of Glendale Avenue on Monday, and polyethylene spilled from one of the rail cars, but there is no danger to the public.
The cause is under investigation.
GO Transit says train service to the region will be modified until the cleanup is complete.
They are strongly encouraging riders to consider their travel options and reconsider non-essential travel as bus service is limited.
Here are the suggestions from GO officials:
To Union Station:
Customers may take the regular route 12 GO bus service from Niagara Falls Bus Terminal, stopping at St. Catharines Fairview Mall before arriving at Burlington GO, where you may connect to eastbound GO train service.
To St. Catharines and Niagara Falls:
Customers may take the regular route 12 GO bus service from Burlington GO, stopping at St. Catharines Fairview Mall before arriving at Niagara Falls Bus Terminal.
Please plan ahead and check schedules before you travel. It is strongly encouraged that non-essential travel is reconsidered, as bus service is limited.
