A Grimsby man is on a push to create a national day to celebrate the butter tart.
John Meissner says the iconic dessert deserves its own day and has launched a petition to make it happen.
He is looking to make April 19th National Butter Tart Day to honour Mary MacLeod who published the first known Butter Tart filling recipe back in 1900;
MacLeod passed away on April 19th, 1915
Meissner has teamed up with an MP from the Barrie area on the effort which already has over two thousand signatures.
