Man taken to hospital after random stabbing in St. Catharines

Niagara Regional Police are investigating a stabbing in St. Catharines this weekend.

It was just before 5 o’clock Sunday morning when police were called to the area of Queenston Street and Niagara Street for reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a man with serious injuries.

The man in his 30’s was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Detectives say the man was sleeping outside after leaving a nearby bar.

While sleeping he was hit in the head and stabbed multiple times by an unknown man.

The suspect is described as white, roughly 5 foot 8, in his 30’s, with a shorter beard.

Police say they believe the incident was an isolated, yet random, act of violence.

Anyone with information or who may have found a discarded cellphone, knife, or clothing in the area of Queenston Street and Niagara Street should contact investigators.
