A new school in Niagara Falls welcomed students for the first time today.
Thundering Heights Public School on McLeod Road is now open, bringing together students from  Kate S. Durdan and James Morden.
The new school has 608 elementary spaces and 49 licensed child care spaces.
The Ontario government invested $29M into the project.
Meantime, some students in Welland have headed back to newly-renovated, and expanded schools.
The Ontario government spent $31M on new additions at Fitch Street Public School and Quaker Road Public School.
Both schools received just over $15M to add more student spaces and child care spaces.
