Niagara Falls Man Facing 12 Charges After High-Speed, Impaired Driving Stop
04/15/2026 at 09:02 AMA late-night traffic stop in Niagara Falls has resulted in a long list of charges for a young driver allegedly caught speeding at more than double the posted limit—and driving while impaired.
According to Niagara Ontario Provincial Police, the incident happened Tuesday, April 14, at approximately 10:16 p.m. An officer conducting proactive speed enforcement on Highway 420 eastbound near Drummond Road observed a vehicle travelling at 173 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Police say the driver, a 26-year-old man from Niagara Falls with a G2 licence, was stopped at the roadside and subsequently arrested for impaired driving. Breath tests conducted at the scene indicated the driver’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
The driver is facing a total of 12 charges including:
▪️Operation while impaired
▪️Operation while impaired – 80 plus
▪️Stunt Driving
▪️Novice Driver B.A.C above zero
▪️Driver fail to properly wear seatbelt
▪️Careless Driving
He has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on May 18, 2026.
