A late-night fire that tore through an unoccupied home in West Lincoln is now being treated as arson, Niagara police say.

Emergency crews were called to 325 West Street around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, where firefighters found a residence under renovation engulfed in flames. The blaze caused more than $700,000 in damage.

Police say surveillance cameras on the property captured two suspects shortly before the fire broke out.

Detectives have since determined the blaze was deliberately set between 2:01 and 2:16 a.m. on Dec. 11.

Investigators are asking nearby residents to check their home security systems and for anyone driving in the area at the time to review dash-cam footage for anything suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Niagara police.
