Niagara Regional Council has finally set the 2026 Budget.
Taxpayers in the region are facing a 6.3% increase on their bill this year.
The final decision comes after the new regional chair proposed some changes that brought down the budget increase from 6.98%.
Bob Gale issuing a statement that says “People are feeling financially squeezed, and residents have asked us to keep increases as low as possible. I take that responsibility seriously. There is only one taxpayer.”
The Regional Chair went on to say, “The savings achieved tonight put real dollars back into the pockets of Niagara’s families and businesses.”
