Police arrest couple from Quebec in undercover pickpocketing operation in Niagara Falls

A man and woman from Quebec have been arrested after an undercover police operation in Niagara Falls.

The Niagara Parks Police Service says they started investigation after a series of reported pickpocketing thefts targeting visitors to Niagara Parks.

On Saturday, June 13th, a senior male guest who was standing in line at the WildPlay Zipline attraction, in Queen Victoria Park, reported he was the victim of a pickpocketing incident.

Police say similar incidents were reported last summer at Table Rock Centre.

The next day, Sunday June 14th, officers dressed in plain clothes and located two suspects who were allegedy trying to steal a woman’s wallet.

Officers intervened and arrested the man and woman from Terrebonne, Quebec.

Police believe the suspects had been travelling across Ontario, staying in locations for short periods of time to avoid being caught.

Both suspects have been charged with four counts of theft under $5,000, three counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and two counts of attempt to commit an offence.

Both suspects remain in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today.
