We continue to get reaction to the shakeup in regional government that was announced late last week.

On Thursday the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced that regional council is being reduced and residents will no longer be electing any councilors.

Instead, the council will be made up of the 12 local mayors and one chair that will be appointed by the province.

The regional chair will also have more power as they will be proposing budgets and hiring and firing staff,

Retired Brock University Political Science Professor David Siegel says those changes are concerning.

All of the changes will take effect for the upcoming term of council after the fall election.
