Ontario drivers, cyclists, and transit users have once again weighed in on the province’s most frustrating stretches of pavement, and a Fort Erie roadway has found itself high on the list.

The annual CAA Worst Roads campaign—run by the Canadian Automobile Association—has released its 2026 rankings, highlighting roads across the province nominated for poor condition, congestion, and general day-to-day driving misery.

This year, Sider Road in Fort Erie climbed to fourth place overall, making it one of the most criticized roads in Ontario.

The campaign also showcases Top 5 rankings for each region.

According to the results, the Top 5 worst roads across the Niagara region are:

5 — West Main Street, Welland

4 — Facer Street, St. Catharines

3 — Concession Road, Fort Erie

2 — Portage Road, Niagara Falls

1 — Sider Road, Fort Erie

Taking the top spot across Ontario is Barton Street East in Hamilton, reclaiming the number one position for the first time since winning 2 years in a row in 2022 and 2023.

Hamilton’s Aberdeen Avenue had also held the top ranking from 2024-2025, marking 5 consecutive years with a Hamilton road in the top spot.

CAA’s annual Worst Roads campaign has been running since 2003 and is designed to spotlight infrastructure concerns reported by the public.

Over the years, inclusion on the list has often been followed by repaving, repairs, and planned upgrades—though, as any commuter will tell you, patience is still part of the journey.

For drivers on Sider Road and beyond, the message is simple: if your suspension feels personally attacked, you’re not alone.
