Snow squall warning ends for north Niagara, continues for south

A weather warning has been cancelled for north Niagara, but a s now squall warning is still in place for the south end of the Region.

Environment Canada is warning that squalls will continue into this afternoon, with up to 30 cm. expected in the south with squalls coming off of Lake Erie.

Winds will also reach up to 90 km/hr.

The danger is significantly reduced visibility due to heavy snow and blowing snow.

“Travel will likely be hazardous. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.”

We have a number of weather-related cancellations, including the closure of Niagara College campuses today.

Buses were cancelled for some south Niagara schools, but all schools remain open today.
