St. Catharines city council has approved one housing development and shot down another.

The first involves Raymaker’s Imports at 579 Ontario Street.

Mayor Mat Siscoe says they gave the green light to a plan that includes adding three floors with 12 units on top of the commercial building.

Meantime council rejected a plan for three and a half storey apartment building with 31 units at 704 Niagara Street.

Siscoe says that development was just too dense for the neighbourhood.
