St. Catharines looks to add affordable housing to Facer Street property
01/29/2026 at 10:02 AMThe City of St. Catharines is hoping a piece of land on Facer Street could be used for a new affordable housing development.
City Council and the Boys and Girls Club are looking for a plan that would create housing and a new home for the youth club at 2 Facer Street.
Mayor Mat Siscoe says the new Municipal Development Corporation will now go out and look for buyers or partners to create a plan.
The Queen Elizabeth Centre, which is currently on the site, was built in the 1960’s.
The Boys and Girls Club has been operating out of it since about 2008.
The Municipal Development Corporation previously found developers for Garden City Arena property and the former fire prevention office on Academy Street.
