Stolen car and loaded gun found in Hamilton’s west mountain area

Hamilton Police have arrested a 28-year-old Mississauga man after officers responding to a suspicious vehicle call located a stolen vehicle and recovered a loaded gun.

It happened this past Sunday at 3:15 a.m. on Hamilton’s west mountain area of Elodia Court.

Witnesses reported a suspicious vehicle that had stopped in the neighbourhood.

Officers arrived a short time later and located a stolen grey Honda with its lights off.

As officers attempted to investigate, the driver rammed two police cruisers and attempted to flee.

The driver then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers pursued him and arrested him a short distance away.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Glock handgun on the front passenger seat.

28-year-old Sammy Shaik of Mississauga has been charged with Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm, Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm, Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle, Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Disguise with Intent, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – Stolen Auto.
