Thorold has 60 new housing units, including some much needed affordable ones.
The five-storey building, at 5 Baker Street, was funded by all levels of government, including $14 million from the federal government.
St. Catharines Liberal MP Chris Bittle says the project shows that when governments work together, they can make real progress in tackling the housing crisis.
“The City of Thorold showed leadership through its municipal development corporation, and today we’re seeing the results of that vision and collaboration.”
Bittle also thanked former MP Vance Badawey for securing the funding in 2023.
The building is a mix of affordable and market rent units aimed at older adults.
