Toronto man arrested for child luring in Niagara facing more charges

A Toronto man arrested last month by Niagara Police is facing additional child sexual exploitation charges.

50-year-old Joseph Mortillaro was arrested on February 24, 2026, for charges of Luring a Child via Telecommunication to Facilitate Sexual Interference (2 Counts), and Harassing Communications.

Police say the arrest came after undercover officers identified a suspect who are using the internet to attempt to meet with children for sexual purposes.

Detectives say a forensic examination of devices has led to more charges.

Mortillaro, who goes by the name ‘Dad of Two’, ‘Mike’, and ‘micjoseph’ online, is now charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material, Making Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material Available, and Make Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material -Written.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
