Welland’s new wind phone is sending messages into the beyond.
This special type of phone is for anyone who wishes to release messages for lost loved ones into the wind.
It will be unveiled at Kingsway Park in Welland Monday at 2pm.
In 2010, the original “Telephone of the Wind” was created in Japan by a man who wished to talk with his cousin who died of cancer.
These one-way conversations can help to make grief more manageable.
Hospice Niagara also has these phones at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area, Memorial Forest at the Glenridge Quarry Naturalization Site and at Pleasantview Funeral Home and Cemetery.
