Niagara is in for some strong winds as a cold front approaches.
North Niagara, including St. Catharines, is under a special weather statement — while south Niagara, including Niagara Falls, is under a wind warning.
Strong winds are expected to begin Wednesday and end Thursday night or Friday morning.
“Strong southwest winds will shift to the west Wednesday night and then to the northwest Thursday afternoon or evening. Local utility outages are possible. High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind.”
Gusts in north Niagara could reach up to 80 kilometres an hour, while south Niagara could get up to 90 km/hr winds.
Flurries are also expected Wednesday evening, and into the overnight hours.
